Dear Parents:

As we approach the FCAT, I would like to highlight and thank our staff, students and parents for their collective efforts to advance the quality of our academic programs during our second year of operation. Clearly, all of the hard work has benefited our students! While as a school community we choose to focus on individual student learning and growth rather than any single test, I expect our students’ strong academic growth this year will cause our FCAT scores to increase naturally this year. Once again, congratulations and good luck to our students!

FCAT Preparedness Tips

Give your child encouragement. Praise him/her for the things done well throughout the year. A child who is afraid of failing is more likely to make a mistake.

See that your child has a well-rounded diet. A healthy body leads to a healthy, active mind.

Make sure your child is well rested. Children who are tired are less likely to pay attention in class or to handle the demands of class work and tests.

Try not to be overly anxious about test scores. Too much emphasis on test scores can be upsetting to children.

Make sure your child arrives on time for school.

If your child wears a hearing aid or glasses, be sure he/she remembers to use them during all testing sessions.

PTO Executive Board for 2010-2011

If you are interested in serving as an executive board member for the 2010-2011 school year, please submit a letter of interest to me by Friday, March 12. Please include a summary of your skills, experience and qualifications in the letter. Voting will take place during the general PTO meeting in April. The PTO board consists of the following positions: President, Vice-President of Affairs, Vice-President of Fundraising, Secretary and Treasurer.

Imagine School at North Port received three national awards:
Imagine School of the Year, Character Education Award, and Co-Winner
for Parent Choice Award for new Imagine charter schools.

FCAT Testing Dates

To help you prepare your family for upcoming FCAT testing, Imagine School at North Port will be following the county’s FCAT daily testing schedule:

March 9 th : Reading (gr. 3, 4, 6, 7); Math (gr. 5)

March 10 th : Reading (gr. 3, 4); Math (gr. 5, 6, 7)

March 11 th : Reading (gr. 5); Math (3, 4)

March 16 th & 17 th : Science (gr. 5)

Grades 3-5 make up days: March 12 th -19 th.

Grade 6 and 7 make up days: March 11 th -19 th.

Testing will conclude at approximately 11AM each day. Remember, testing security protocols mandate that non-school based people (parents, vendors, etc.) are not allowed on campus before and during testing. Thanks as always for your patience and understanding.

Shark Spirit Shirts

The PTO will be placing their final order for the year of shark spirit shirts on March 15 th. If you would like to place an order, the deadline to get your form in is Friday, March 12 th. Order forms are located in the front office.

Imagine School Spring Break Camp

Want a safe and exciting place your child to come during spring break? Enroll your child in the fun filled Imagine School at North Port Spring Break Camp! Camp will be held March 26 th thru April 2 nd. Registration forms are available in the office. Please note that in order to have the camp, a minimum of 20 students must enroll.
